Potpot Village and Vitu Island Part 1

We are safely back on the mainland after our trip and this is part one of two reporting on the trip. As usual, click on the highlighted text to make the link to the written document.Potpot Village part 1

The following photo is of Paul, the Potpot village headman lighting his cigarette using a glowing ember in a piece of coconut palm leaf stem that he carries around for that purpose.

We are off back to Arawa on the 7th  – what to we don’t know- the Deputy Town Manager rang me to say that he had finally been able to establish that there was no money allocated for infrastructure work for 2011 – mavbe 2012! Unless we can find something worthwhile we may yet be back in NZ for the Rugby World Cup!

Take care

We are not going out to Vitu island and Potpot just yet – read about it in the attached exciting document! Also find out the results of last week’s competition ( there were no answers submitted – very disappointing but thanks to Lane for trying! )

The news back in Bougainville is that William Tukaku , the actor from Arawa who played Man Friday opposite Piers Brosnahan in Robinson Crusoe died. He was one of our neighbours and the VSA volunteers have been involved in the Haus Krai . ( I wonder if Piers heard about it?) We are likely to be out of touch for a couple of weeks from Wednesday so next posting will be delayed – apologies for this – but there should be lots of exciting things to report on!

A FINE EXAMPLE OF MANHOOD CAUGHT IN A SNEAK ATTACK – all right all right – what else should a man do on a warm humid Saturday afternoon??! (I can’t possibly show you the picture taken of Rosie in an unguarded moment – I know which side my bed is buttered!)

The other (previous)new posting is a review of the site and you might find the statistics interesting. It looks like we have a pretty successful blog as far as the number of postings and readers. Thank you for all your support in 2010 and I will try to keep you updated with interesting information so that you continue to  find it enjoyable to read through 2011! The other interesting thing was the number of people who searched for daveandrosie@wordpress.com (e-mail address) instead of daveandrosie.wordpress.com (web page) but it looks like they still managed to get through.
